Iconic 57th Fighter Group Restaurant Hosts Warbird Rides, 1940s Victory Dance

PRESS RELEASE

World War II warbirds from the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Georgia fleet will join the festivities Saturday, Oct 29th when the 57th Fighter Group restaurant stages its inaugural Victory Night dinner and dance at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport. CAF Airbase Georgia, based in Peachtree City, Ga., plans to send its SBD Dauntless dive bomber, LT-6 Mosquito trainer, and Corsair fighter to help set the 40s mood at the ‘Victory Night at the 57th’ event.

Airbase Georgia will sell rides from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. aboard its SBD Dauntless and the LT-6, for a memorable aviation experience that will take the passengers back in time in a meticulously restored aircraft. Rides can be purchased in advance online at https://airbasegeorgia.org/warbird-rides/. (Check the CAF Airbase Georgia Facebook page for weather or schedule updates.)

The restaurant sits at the end of Peachtree-Dekalb Airport’s south runways. That means diners will witness planes taking off and landing throughout a meal. Combine that with the historical aviation theme the restaurant embraces and diners will be treated to views of the history of aviation and present-day aircraft.

Bud Anderson gave a presentation at the 57th Fighter Group restaurant on the occasion of the 2016 Atlanta Warbird Weekend.

The 57th Fighter Group entered the Atlanta restaurant scene in 1981 and quickly became a landmark for aviation enthusiasts and diners seeking a unique and nostalgic experience. Victory Night will begin at 7 p.m. and will recreate the classic 40s feel, enhanced by costumed guests and big-band music. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.  Reservations are strongly encouraged and must be booked by calling the restaurant, 770-234-0057. https://www.the57threstaurant.com/
