With just a couple of weeks remaining until the 2013 RAF Cosford Air Show, organizers have confirmed a complete line-up of flying displays for Sunday June 9th, but are hinting that there are still more aerial displays to be added as the date of the show approaches. This year marks the 75th Anniversary of RAF Cosford and there is a special flyover planned to kick off the air show with planes of importance to the history of the facility opening the aerial events.
Notable performances at the show will include a flyover of an RAF Lockheed C-130 Hercules in its only air show performance of the season, the only airworthy Avro Vulcan in the world courtesy of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust and the last airworthy Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress in Europe, “Sally B.” The RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will perform flyovers with their Avro Lancaster, Supermarine Spitfires, Hawker Hurricanes and Douglas C-47 Dakota aircraft. Aerobatic performances by the RAF Red Arrows, RV8tors, The Blades, Breitling Wing Walkers, O’Brien’s Flying Circus, the SWIP Team, Aerostars as well as an F-86 Sabre and a privately-owned Supermarine Spitfire are on the program. Additional military displays include the RAF Grob Tutor and Shorts Tucano training aircraft, as well as the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team, an Army Air Corps Lynx helicopter and the Royal Navy Historic Flight with their Sea Fury aircraft.
There will also be a large contingent of aircraft on static display, including an RAF Tornado GR1, Harrier GR3, Tutor T1, Jaguar GR3 & T2, King Air B200, RNLAF PC-7, RAF Chinook, JP5, Squirrel HT1, Griffin HT1, RN Sea King, Gazelle and an RAF Merlin.
