This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The iconic aerial battle during the summer of 1940 is regarded as the RAF’s and the country’s ‘finest hour’ – when Britain stood alone as enemy forces were poised across the Channel, ready to invade. Although greatly outnumbered, the brave members of RAF Fighter Command took to the skies to defend Britain against attack.
During August and September the Royal Air Force Museum in North West London commemorates ‘Our Finest Hour’ with a special programm of events for families to enjoy and enthusiast to delve deeper.Events will include a once in a lifetime opportunity to take a closer look at the cockpits of our Battle of Britain aircraft; Spitfire 10k run; model-making with Airfix; a chance to sit in a Spitfire; Flypasts; unseen archive viewing; BBC singers in concert; 1940’s cabaret; a weekend of living history and re-enactors and much more!
