The annual Warbirds Over Monroe air show  based at the Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport in Union County.was another success. This small airfield based in North Carolina always delivers its promises. Despite the cloudy weather the aerial demonstrations were impeccable, several warbirds performed for the numerous spectators who came to the field.

“2 Corsairs and 4 Mustangs” could have been the title of the movie for this airshow, below you can watch the video of the aerial routine performed by these aircraft. In random order CAF Dixie Wing FG-1D Corsair, Jim Tobul F4U-4 Corsair, Scott Yoak P-51D “Quicksilver”, Jeffrey Michael P-51 “Obsession” and Robert Dickerson P-51D “Swamp Fox”, P-51D Angels Playmate.

  1. This was a great event started by a few Warbird fans that wanted to do something for the community and recognize the local Veterans. The group formed Warriors & Warbirds in 2005 and grew the show through hard work by volunteers and other nonprofit groups. In 2012 several individuals with the City of Monroe decided they wanted the show and took it from the group. It is slowing changing into a non Warbird/Veterans event into a corporate/political display.
