Warbird Digest is proud to announce our support for the D-Day Squadron and the organization’s herculean efforts to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of D-Day next year.
The D-Day Squadron is part of the Tunison Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization which operates the historic, D-Day veteran Douglas C-47 Skytrain known affectionately as Placid Lassie. In June 2019, the D-Day Squadron will lead an American fleet of these historic, fully-restored C-47s to Britain to take part in Daks Over Normandy
Daks Over Normandy will feature more than thirty, internationally-based Douglas transports in a flyover near the shores of Normandy, France, delivering 250 paratroopers onto one of the original D-Day drop zones, seventy five years to the day since that historic flight on June 6th, 1944. This event will honor the citizen soldiers whose bravery lead the Allies towards the liberation of France and, ultimately, to a victorious conclusion of the devastating Second World War in Europe. Daks Over Normandy will also help instill the memory of the Greatest Generation and stories of their self-self-sacrifice in the hearts and minds of the many thousands who will be there to witness the spectacle, something we should all support.

Warbird Digest believes strongly in the D-Day Squadron’s mission, and as a result, we will be donating $25 to their organization for each new magazine subscription we receive. This will be a part of our contribution to the greater cause.
