This October 1942 Palmer photograph shows a pilot assigned to the Douglas Aircraft Company, Long Beach, California. Note the dramatic upward gaze of the subject. I would guess that this pilot was a ferry pilot, delivering aircraft to the Army from the Douglas factory.
