The FAA has recently approved the Commemorative Air Force to provide flight instruction in its fleet of single engined aircraft. The Atlanta, Georgia based CAF Dixie Wing be implementing the training program, wich will include their iconic North American P-51 Mustang “Red Nose.”
The approval from the FAA will provide a valuable additional source of revenue to help keep the CAF’s warbirds in the air and as flight training will include a supporting membership in the CAF it will provide a steady stream of potentially active supporters to the organization, truly a win-win situation.
Program Details:
Student Qualification: Private Pilot minimum
Instructor Qualifications: CFI; CAF P51 instructor rating
Format: Preflight briefing covering planned maneuvers, positive control exchange, desired learning objectives. These may be tailored to the individual student. Post flight debriefing will be done by instructor, with appropriate critique and recommendations for next lesson.
P-51 “Red Nose” and representatives of the CAF and CAF Dixie wing will be at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, enrolling students as well as offering flight experiences to those who just want a ride in this famous warbird, so if you’re going, be sure to meet up with them.
