Doc’s Friends has just announced that the Federal Aviation Administration has granted the group’s request for an exemption and approved the group’s Living History Flight Experience (LHFE) program. This will allow Doc’s Friends to begin offering passenger flights to the public aboard their Boeing B-29 Superfortress Doc.

The first LHFE rides aboard Doc are set to take place between July 20th and 22nd at the Heavy Bombers Weekend in Madison, Wisconsin. Each ‘B-29 Doc Flight Experience’ will last roughly 90 minutes and include a 30-minute ride aboard the vintage bomber. Prior to takeoff, passengers will experience a crew briefing and learn more about the B-29 and the historical role it played. Passengers will also thrill to the sights and sounds of engine starts and run-ups prior to takeoff.

Josh Wells, the Communications & Marketing director for Doc’s Friends recently stated, “Doc’s mission of honoring those who served our nation, educating future generations and connecting people to Wichita’s historic role in our nation’s aviation industry becomes even more real with the B-29 Doc Flight Experience ride program. It also allows us to fund the overall operation of the historic aircraft and ensure its sustainability for generations to come.”

Additional dates will soon be added to the ‘B-29 Doc Flight Experience’ schedule, including ride weekends in Wichita, Kansas and other air shows throughout the remainder of the flying season.
