NASA Dryden Flight Research Facility Operations Highlights



You got to Love YouTube! Here is a great find, this videos show the  historical archive film footage from the NASA Dryden Flight Research Facility. Part 1 shows the1940’s experimental aircraft including the Northrop YB-49 flying wing and the X-series research aircraft on the ground and in flight, including scenes of Chuck Yeager’s record breaking X-1 flight and the X-15 space plane.Parasail & lifting body experiments.

Part 2 shows:Lunar Lander Research Vehicle (LLRV), the altitude drops by B-52’s of lifting body research aircraft,the North American XB-70 “Valkyrie” supersonic prototype,the X-15 spaceplane, a radio controlled model aircraft, the YF-12 supersonic research aircraft,a modified military aircraft and the Space Shuttle landing & piggyback on 747.

This films have been made available courtesy the US Department of Defence, NASAimages.org and the US National Archives.Effective March 1, 2014, the Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC) was renamed the Neil A. Armstrong Flight Research Center in honor of Astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first human being to walk on the surface of the moon.
