October 18, 2014 – Open Cockpit Day, 10am to 4pm. Climb into the cockpit of one of several historic aircraft and talk the story with pilots. Flight suits, helmets, and fun provided. Bring your camera! Free with Museum admission and free to Museum Members.
October 30, 2014 – “Misty” panel discussion, book signing and F-100F Super Sabre dedication ceremony. Marking the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, Misty pilots will reunite for a panel discussion and book signing, 3:00pm in Hangar 37. General Lori Robinson, commanding general of Pacific Air Forces, Misty 40 pilot Dick Rutan and Air Force Major General Don Shephard, are among the guest speakers. At 5:00pm in Hangar 79, the Museum will dedicate their North American F-100F Super Sabre to Colonel George “Bud” Day, Vietnam prisoner of war and Medal of Honor recipient. November 6, 2014 – Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knight Helicopter Retirement Ceremony, 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Hawaii Marines will retire the PHROG workhorse. Kahu Kordell Kekoa will bless the aircraft as it enters into the Museum’s collection, now totaling 46 aircraft. The Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor pays homage to Vietnam Veterans as a part of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Commemoration. Free with Museum admission and free to Museum Members.
November 9, 2014 – With Their Voices Raised, 2:00pm with Q&A to follow. A premier documentary theatre performance with stories of Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima survivors created by Kate Morris. Performed by T-Shirt Theatre, a project of the Alliance for Drama Education. Free with Museum admission, free to Museum Members or $5 performance only admission. November 11, 2014 – Commemorating Veterans Day. Free admission to veterans.
November 27, 2014 – Happy Thanksgiving. Museum closed for the holiday.
December 6, 2014 – 8th Anniversary Dinner Gala – “Destinations & Dreams” 6:00 to 10:00 PM. The annual fundraiser for Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor. Captain Chesley B. Sullenberger will be this year’s guest speaker. Emcee for the evening will be actor, journalist and TV host David Hartman. Honoree of the evening is the Museum’s past Chairman of the Board Admiral Ronald J. Hays. Cocktails, dinner, entertainment, and prize opportunities to help support the Museum’s Restoration and Education programs. Tickets are $250 for the gala event in the battlefield hangars of Ford Island, on the night before the December 7th attack occurred in 1941. December 7, 2014 – 73rd Anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor. Blackened Canteen Ceremony hosted by Dr. Hiroya Sugano M.D. aboard the USS Arizona, 11:30AM. Dr. Hiroya Sugano, Director General of the Zero Fighter Admirers’ Club, comes from Japan to conduct this annual commemoration of peace and reconciliation ceremony with a silent prayer and pouring bourbon whisky from a WWII-blackened canteen into the water from the USS Arizona Memorial as an offering to the spirits of the fallen. Limited Press is invited. A roundtable discussion follows at Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor.
