USS Lexington Museum: Review from a Navy Veteran

The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation is opening the Legacy Wall exhibit with a virtual dedication presentation on Tuesday, June 8, at 11 a.m. The virtual introduction of the first seven service member plaques will be marked with a short, pre-recorded message from retired Navy Rear Adm. Kyle Cozad, president and CEO of the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation. The initial service members were selected from a number of stories submitted to the Foundation in February 2021. The stories recognized individual legacies of service and contributions to Naval Aviation.
The first seven honored service members include:
  • LCDR Charles Walker, USN
  • Maj Eugene “Red” James, USMC
  • Col Simon J Kittler, USMC (Ret)
  • LCDR Cash Barber, USN (Ret)
  • CAPT Vince Segars, USN
  • CDR Frank Erickson, USCG (Ret)
  • Col Henry Steadman, USMC (Ret)
The Legacy Wall campaign is one of the many fundraising initiatives, hosted by the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, to provide resources to the National Naval Aviation Museum’s expansion, aircraft preservation, conservation and maintenance and development of new exhibits. The Legacy Wall is located on the Museum’s second floor in the Foundation’s Hall of Honor. Plaques will be viewed by hundreds of thousands of visitors to the National Naval Aviation Museum each year for generations to come.
A limited number of honor plaques are available for purchase. Plaques are engraved on a silver aluminum plates and can include photos, text, insignias and logos. Legacy Wall plaques include a keepsake replica plate mounted on wood backing and an exclusive Legacy Wall Certificate of Registry.
