The Military Aviation Museum in Pungo, Virginia is embarking upon a series of educational programs for younger visitors which are bound to prove popular for families in the Virginia Beach area and beyond. These kinds of opportunities are an effective way of bringing new generations into the the world of vintage aviation history, an essential element for the continued promotion and preservation of human stories and historical artifacts that we all care so deeply about. The following press release describes the Military Aviation Museum’s endeavors in greater detail…
Following up on a wildly successful Summer Camp season, with more than 80 campers, the museum is offering up new programs for the 2019-2020 school year. Continuing the STEM theme, new three-hour Saturday workshops will be offered monthly, with focus on drone piloting and forces of flight. These workshops are limited to just the first three registrants, so visit our Workshops page to see what’s new.
Over the years, the museum has developed strong relationships with Virginia Beach Public Schools and Creeds Elementary in particular, and we’re excited for the upcoming school year. While we still offer custom guided tours and outreach, we’re also introducing our new STEM Exploration Tours and Learning Labs, which bring out the best in history, science and hands-on experiential learning. For example, in Victory Through Flight, students experience the perils on the home front of the Battle of Britain by using authentic gas masks and air raid siren, while also exploring the Spitfire, Hurricane and bf 109. Visit our new Field Trips page to learn more, and tell your favorite teacher about our new offerings!
The museum is also developing new outreach programs to bring to schools throughout Hampton Roads, including variations on our stellar STEM Exploration Tours, Drone Labs and Forces of Flight Lab. It’s going to be an exciting school year!
