PRESS RELEASE – Tucson, The President’s decree that Fri., Dec. 26, 2014 will be a federal holiday for executive branch and agencies prevents the local “Aircraft Boneyard”/AMARG tours, run by the Pima Air & Space Museum, from operating on that one day however the tours will be increased for the following week’s non-federal-holiday weekdays (Mon., Tue., and Wed., Dec. 29 through 31, 2014 and Fri., Jan. 2, 2015̶―Jan. 1, 2015 is a federal holiday, no “Aircraft Boneyard”/AMARG tours on that day either). Both the Pima Air & Space Museum and the Titan Missile Museum remain open on Dec. 26, 2014.
“We are grateful to our fabulous volunteer docents who put the Pima Air & Space Museum visitors as top priority during this holiday time making these highly requested tours possible,” stated Mary E. Emich, Director of Visitor Services & Marketing at both the Pima Air & Space and Titan Missile Museums. She continued, “Both of our enticing museums, Pima Air & Space and the Titan Missile Museum, run by our not-for-profit Foundation, remain open on all but Christmas day and Thanksgiving day. Museum admission is not required to take the “Boneyard”/AMARG tour so take that tour one day and come back other days to enjoy our museums.”
Advanced tickets for the “Boneyard”/AMARG tour can be purchased online at pimaair.org/visit/buy or by calling 1-888-71tickets, daily from 9am to 9pm Eastern Time, up until the day prior. Walk-up tickets are available beginning at 9am Arizona time the morning of the tours. Because this bus tour takes visitors onto the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, U.S. government security regulations are enforced for tour takers including presenting a government-issued Identification Card (passport or driver’s license) at the museum admissions desk one hour before the tour departure time, no large purses, back packs or camera cases.
