Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow Seeks Volunteers

United Fuel Cells

WOW_LPThe biennial Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow held in even-numbered years in Wanaka, New Zealand has created a new position within the organization, “Volunteers Manager”, and has filled the post with Mo Schofield, a woman who is no stranger to aviation, having worked at London’s Gatwick Airport and long-time enthusiast of Supermarine Spitfires. While her overseas experiences meant she would be well prepared for any situation, Mo also has a professional background in event planing and management in New Zealand.  Since moving to Wanaka seven years ago she has volunteered for many local organisations and first became involved with Warbirds Over Wanaka (WOW) in 2008.

A call has been put out for volunteers for the event which is scheduled to be held April 18-20th, 2014 and Ms. Schofield will have her hands full managing the 300-400 volunteers who assist in putting on this large and still growing event.

While the airshow was still 10 months away, volunteers were being asked to step forward now to get started as with a show this size everything needs to be organized well in advance. According to Mo there are many roles that need to be filled by volunteers, stating:  “There are as many as forty different areas such as media, merchandising, ticketing, program sales, looking after the VIP zones and others.”

Warbirds Over Wanaka Event Manager, Mandy Deans, said people could register their interest for volunteer in person at the airshow office at Wanaka airport or online by contacting the organization through the WOW Website.
